The Jacksonville Jaguars head to New Orleans for their preseason opener against the Saints, and with the starters sitting, Saturday is a HUGE opportunity for the defensive depth chart.
On this Locked On Jaguars Hit, Kyle Nash breaks down what he NEEDS to see from Anthony Campanile's defense in NOLA:
🔥 PASS RUSH — Who creates pressure when Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker aren't out there?
💪 DEFENSIVE TACKLES — Can the interior generate penetration and prove Jacksonville's defensive line is deeper than the starters?
👀 LINEBACKERS — The battle involving Ventrell Miller and Branson Combs has been one of the stories of camp. Who takes advantage of the live reps?
🔒 SECONDARY — Jacksonville has plenty of bodies competing at corner and safety. Who covers, tackles and — most importantly — makes plays on the football?
🏃 RUN DEFENSE — No cheap yards. Set the edge, fill the gaps and make New Orleans earn everything.
🚨 TACKLING & DISCIPLINE — It's preseason, but missed tackles, busted assignments and unnecessary penalties can't become habits.
The starters don't need to prove anything Saturday.
The guys BEHIND THEM do.
Who proves they deserve a spot on this Jaguars defense?
